Massimo Vignelli, born 1931 in Italy, is a world-renowned designer known for his Modernist style that focuses on simplicity through basic geometric shapes.
Among his well-known designs are the American Airlines identity in 1967 and the design of the New York subway map in 1972. In this short documentary Vignelli talks about his design philosophy, the 2008 redesign of the subway map and The Vignelli Center for Design Studies.
